Instead of buying one, many companies choose to rent a laptop computer for their employees use. There are even some individuals who have decided this is a good route for their computer needs, but thats much rarer. Currently, this is primarily an option for businesses that want to stem the costs associated with upgrading.
Why Rent a Laptop Computer?
One hundred years ago, if you bought a printing press for your company, it would probably last fifty years. Today, companies are finding that they are having to upgrade equipment they bought only a few years ago in order to remain competitive. This has created a real drain on company resources, and the option to rent a laptop computer has become a viable alternative.
By renting, the company is now able to upgrade on a continuous basis, and they dont end up stuck with useless machines crowding their office space. While in theory its nice to own, there isnt much resale value for a used computer. A used computer is, by its nature, a dinosaur without much use.
The other reason to rent a laptop computer is that at different times your company may need more units than at others. During peak months, you may carry temporary employees and the need for computers will be greater. Not being stuck with all that stock during slower months is a great resource saver.
