The choice to rent a computer instead of buying one is based on some very simple realities. The computer you buy today becomes old technology so fast that you may as well rent and be able to trade up. Im still not sold on doing this as an individual, but it makes very good sense for a business.
Why Rent a Computer?
Another reason a company may choose to rent a computer instead of buying is that unless they are a tech company, they may not always need a lot of units. Perhaps during holidays you hire extra help, and at those times you need more computers. However, once the holiday is over the the temporary help is gone, you dont want to be stuck with a lot of extra computers.
If you do finally decide to rent a computer, make sure the company you give your business to provides you with good technical support. They should be able to set up the computers and give you at least a basic tutorial on how they run. Additionally, if you need it, they should be able to network your computers for you.
The niche that rental companies like this fill are for primarily non-tech companies that wouldnt necessarily have their own computer department. If you do have one, obviously you have the resources to do a lot of the set up yourself, and you may even prefer it. Even so, with new computers coming in the door, a degree of customer support is crucial.
